Kept Googling for this, so finally figured I should note it down on my own blog. The dynamic range compressor in VLC is a very handy tool I discovered recently. You can use it to even out movies which have both very quiet and very loud scenes so you can hear what people say and not damage your ears. May 23, 2019 Playlist volume leveling Post by GrizzlyAK » Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:25 am I know that VLC is used by many film festivals around the world to show a series of films, many times short films, from a playlist (not talking about DCPs here).
I have been using VLC to play music videos. I had set the VLC volume from the windows volume mixer to max 100% and used to change volume from inside the application. Then something happened when I was trying to change some video settings of VLC and had to 'reset preferences'.
After that, somehow, the windows mixer volume level and the VLC's volume level have sort of synced and when I change one of them, the other changes with it. When the volume mixer level for VLC is not maxed, it does not give a proper audio output to my speakers and the base is too low. When I change it to max, the VLC application volume goes to max as well and it is too loud. Is there a way to make them unsynchronized again?
I have check all the audio settings in VLC and did not find the solution so I thought it might be done from the windows audio settings. I know this is a very unusual problem but please help me.:).
